I made this for breakfast in valentine but I was too lazy to put the recipe up.The great thing about this is that it doesn’t have to be valentine’s day to enjoy a heart-shaped meal/treat. It was my first time making this,I loved it so much,it has now become one of my go to favorites especially if I want something quick and delicious.
Serves 2,increase the recipe as needed.
3 medium-large Potatoes
1 small onion
1 Tbsp Softened Butter
3 Tbsp Flour
3 slices of Ham or Bacon
Salt to taste
Black Pepper to taste
Basil or Chives(optional)
Oil for frying
Serve with Sour cream or yoghurt or Crema Mexicana(1 cup sour cream+1/2 cup heavy cream+a pinch of Salt)
Peel and wash the potatoes and onions
Grate the potatoes and onion on the smallest part of your grater
Mix well to combine
Add the egg
Add softened butter
Add the flour, salt and freshly ground black pepper
Add the ham or bacon
Heat a pan with about 1/2 inch oil,you can just spoon portions of the batter into the oil and spread or use a form or mold
Place the mold in the oil
Keep forming until the pan is filled
Don’t turn until the bottoms have browned, turning it before it cooks can cause it to break.
Fry until crisp on both sides and drain on paper towels
